City of Monterey Launches Rental Assistance Program

I am proud that Monterey city council directed staff to design an emergency rental assistance program in response to job loss and loss of income due to Covid 19. If you live or work in the city of Monterey you may be eligible. The city Housing Department is now receiving applications.

The program is designed to mitigate potential homelessness and displacement of existing Monterey residents and workers who are experiencing a decrease in household income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and thus, unable to pay their rent. The City may provide up to a maximum of six (6) months of rental assistance.

Interested renters can complete the online application at this link.
